The Phantom show is based upon the life and character of the ghostly figure who lived beneath the Paris Opera House in the 1800's. The story was immortalized in a novel, The Phantom of the Opera, written by the French author, Gaston Leroux, and published in 1911. Born horribly disfigured, the Phantom, Eric, ran away to live among the gypsies, eventually becoming quite accomplished as an artist, a ventriloquist, and as a magnificent singer. But as a magician, his feats of magic became legendary. Duane tries to capture the mystery and the excitement of the phantom who lived in a subterranean lake beneath the Opera. Each element of the show calls to mind some aspect of the story, from the foggy atmosphere to the death's-head mask of the performer. This show carries its own curtains, lights, and sound. All you need to supply is the location, and the audience. |
